The partner of Villaseca Abogados, Felipe Pavez, gave the Latin American outlet LexLatin some recommendations for the registration of trademarks, patents, and industrial designs in China. In the article “Registration of trademarks against commercial agreements in China”, Pavez pointed out that it is important to establish clear agreements on their use and protection and include penalty clauses in contracts to protect against non-compliance.

“There is also a need to conduct regular searches for potential infringements, establish clear agreements with business partners, train Chinese employees and business partners on the importance of IP, and monitor the Chinese market for potential infringements,” he said.
