World Trademark Review has recently published an article by the Senior Advisor of Villaseca Abogados, Sergio Amenábar, titled: “Madrid Protocol enters into force in Chile”.

In it, he analyzes the path traveled in Chile for the approval of the Madrid System for the international registration of trademarks, after the National Congress approved its accession in May 2021.

“The deposit of the Chilean ratification to the Protocol was made on April 4, 2022, when Chile also communicated some allowed declarations and notifications and so , the treaty entered into force in the country on July 4”, indicates the senior adviser of Villaseca in the article.

In addition, it is explained the main considerations included in the INAPI instructions (published on June 30) that establish administrative measures to facilitate the execution of the Treaty in the country.
