CUSTOMS IN CHILE CONFISCATED MORE THAN 6.5 MILLION OF FAKE PRODUCTS DURING THE FIRST SEMESTER OF 2019

The National Customs Service reported that during the first half of 2019 it has confiscated 6,519,761 units of counterfeit products throughout Chile. This represents a 78.9% increase over the same period last year. It is estimated that its market value would be close to 40 million dollars.

The most pirated brands are: Disney, Lego, Pokemon, Marvel Characters, Paw Patrol, Nintendo, Samsung, Mario Bros, Cars, Adidas, L.O.L. Surprise, Coca Cola, As seen on TV and Dragon Ball Z, among others.

In addition, with the Police, Customs intercepted about 6,300,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes, with an evasion estimated at US$ 25 million, exceeding by 46.61% the amount of packs seized in the same period of 2018.

According to data from the National Customs Service, the confiscation of 3,876,706 products that violate public health regulations and put families at risk, such as cosmetics, toys and food, with a rise of 100.37% regarding the same period of 2018.
